Our History

The Club was founded in 1987 by Gregory Nunn, and at the very first meeting of the club at the Orient Hotel in Brisbane on the 16th of December 1987, twelve members signed up as Foundation Members to form the St. George Supporters Club of Queensland.

Following the amalgamation of the St. George Dragons and the Illawarra Steelers in 1999, the club changed its name to the St. George – Illawarra Supporters Club of Queensland.

Celebrating its 25th year in 2012 the Club became incorporated in Queensland and from 2013 will be known as the Dragons Supporters Club Qld Inc.

The Dragons Supporters Club Qld Inc. is the longest running independent rugby league supporters club in Australia.  We are a Gold Partnership sponsor of the St. George – Illawarra Dragons, and have our very own women in league group called the Qld Dragons Angels – supporting charities and providing care and comfort for members during tough times.  Members enjoy many benefits which include such awards as the Supporter Of The Year Award, the Norm Provan Award for 10 years consecutive service, the Billy Smith Loyalty Award for 25 years consecutive service, and the Angel Of The Year Award.

The club also produces its own monthly newsletter ‘The Supporter’ during the season, have our own merchandise range, sit together as club members at games in Queensland involving the Dragons, members receive exclusive invitations to functions such as B.B.Q By The Bay, Blood & Bandages Shield rugby league trivia night, and our Annual Dinner / Awards Night.  We welcome all Dragons supporters to our family friendly club as we share together our devotion to the greatest rugby league club in the world – the St. George – Illawarra Dragons.
